Mechanical Foreman
Purpose of the Post
To ensure the project achieves the required health, safety, environmental, quality, budget, and time targets by successfully supervising and coordinating the site activities during the installation, inspection, testing and commissioning phases. This is supplemental to the BESA definition on the role.
Main Accountabilities
- Interpret the requirements of the specification and the drawings
- Implementation of safe systems of work and SMS procedures
- Compliance with all aspects of the Mechanical Safe Systems of Work
- Ensuring achievement of the Programme hand-overs
- Sub-contractor site activities
- Effective deployment of resources
- Support of the planned commissioning activities
- Maintenance of as installed documentation and records
Role Scope
- The role has been established to focus on the mechanical engineering aspects of the project
- The role is key to the successful completion, inspection and hand-over of the project
- All Financial and Commercial demands of the role will be executed through the existing project processes and procedures
- The role will form part of the project management and reporting structure
Key Activities
- Apply the mechanical processes against the programme with responsibility for all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental procedures
- Technical application and interpretation
- Coordination of sub contractor representatives
- Support of the associated trades commissioning activities
- Support to the overall project delivery teams
- Coordination of record documentation and drawings
- Problem solving and learning capture
Line Management
The role will report directly to the Area Mechanical Engineer.
Reports
- There will be a requirement for daily communication of progress
- Formal weekly confirmation of status against programme with clarity on issues arising
