University of Glasgow Library and Learning Café
The University of Glasgow Library is a focal point for learning for many undergraduate and postgraduate students. Their changing needs have been met through the creation of a bright, relaxing and informal social learning space, where students meet with friends and colleagues. This is facilitated through clever use of the design of the space such as with seating layout located on either side of the meandering walk way. Access to the Library’s resources can be readily accessed via the new Wi-Fi links to the University IT networks to enhance the experience.
Scope of Work
Taylor and Fraser is uniquely placed to assist customers in undertaking a project of this kind because the company has two distinct core capabilities in both mechanical and construction services. The added value of this integrated service capability for the customer means that the company is able to incorporate the engineering services within the construction activity as part of the overall refurbishment, because all of the planning and sequencing of activities is undertaken in-house. As a consequence the company was able to complete the project in sixteen weeks, at a cost of £1.4m (£1,152 m²).
