Wednesday 5th June is World Environment Day, created by the United Nations with the aim to raise awareness of the environmental issues of today. As a society, the topic of environmental health is becoming ever more apparent and we as a company recognise the need to reduce our environmental impact wherever possible.
At Taylor and Fraser, we make minimising our impact on the environment a priority. We are aware that typically, the construction industry can have a major impact on the environment. However, as a responsible company, we are committed to the continual improvement of our impact on the environment.
What do we do to reduce our impact on the environment?
Our commitment to the environment and sustainability is underlined by the development and maintenance of our Environmental Management System (EMS). Our EMS and approach to environmental issues has been assessed, evaluated and accredited with ISO 14001: 2015.
Our high standards of staff training throughout the company ensure all staff are aware of our environmental stance and their own role in keeping our work as ‘green’ as possible. We undergo continual reviews to ensure the entire team stays at the forefront of environmental legislation whilst monitoring our progress of objectives and targets.
Throughout projects, we are diligent in our selection of materials and consumables to ensure that their use is sustainable and environmentally friendly. Many of our projects are in rural locations, meaning we need to take into consideration the sensitive nature of the surrounding environment and the unique challenges this can pose to minimise our impact on it. We also always ensure site waste is identified, segregated and appropriately stored for future recycling and disposal.
On numerous projects, we have installed biomass boilers, ground source heat pumps and air source heat pumps, all of which are environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional methods.
To further demonstrate our commitment to reducing our impact on climate change and reducing our carbon footprint, we also have continuous investment in technology to reduce use of energy, water and other natural resources.
You can be confident that the environmental practices and procedures we use on any future project are of the highest standards and are in accordance with ISO 1400.
