Clean Energy & Heat

Proven Capability Across Scotland

Project Overview

Taylor & Fraser delivers clean energy and low‑carbon heat solutions across some of Scotland’s most complex, sensitive and high‑profile buildings. With over a century of engineering heritage and decades of MEP delivery, we apply proven construction expertise to modern energy systems that reduce carbon, improve efficiency and provide long‑term operational resilience.

Our work in the energy sector spans heat pumps, biomass, district heating and solar PV, delivered within heritage assets, live university campuses, schools, cultural venues and commercial facilities. Clients choose Taylor & Fraser for our ability to combine technical competence, quality delivery and in‑house capability with a clear understanding of operational and stakeholder requirements.

  • Project‑specific inspection and test plans
  • Continuous quality control during installation
  • Robust commissioning, validation and soft landings
  • Clear handover and user training
  • Long‑term maintenance aligned to SFG20 principles
  • This approach ensures reliable performance, optimised energy savings and client confidence.

Off‑Site Manufacturing & Modern Methods

Our off‑site manufacturing (OSM) capability is a key differentiator in energy delivery and is rooted in decades of practical experience working in some of Scotland’s most remote and challenging locations.

Taylor & Fraser has successfully delivered projects across more than 50 Scottish islands over a period exceeding 50 years. This geography has necessitated a long‑standing reliance on off‑site fabrication, pre‑assembly and logistics‑led planning well before modern OSM became industry standard.

From our Paisley facility, we fabricate mechanical and renewable plant components in controlled conditions, allowing systems to be transported, installed and commissioned efficiently in locations where site access, labour availability and programme certainty are critical.

Benefits of this established OSM approach include:

  • Proven delivery in remote locations.
  • Reduced on‑site installation time.
  • Improved health and safety through controlled fabrication.
  • Lower waste and embodied carbon.
  • Consistent build quality and repeatability.
  • Minimal disruption to occupied or operational buildings.

With ongoing investment in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), Taylor & Fraser continues to build on over half a century of OSM‑led delivery, applying these principles to modern clean energy and heat projects across Scotland.
