Thriving community organisations are music to our ears

Taylor and Fraser have a long-established tradition of supporting local organisations and clubs and acknowledging the tireless work done by volunteers to add value to their community. We know the part such organisations play in encouraging young people to explore their potential and the joy they bring to people of all ages who want to follow their passion.

A fantastic example of such an organisation is Irvine and Dreghorn Brass. It all began for them back in 1975 when local teachers identified there weren’t enough children or instruments at any one school in the area to form a band. Now, almost 50 years later, they are a thriving band that has successfully competed at many competitions throughout the country.

They are actually made up of three bands (Junior Band, Community Band, and Senior Band) all managed and run by the Irvine and Dreghorn Brass organisation. Over the three groups, they have around 70 members ranging from 5 years old to 75 years old. The Junior Band provides education and a fun environment for kids from ages 5-18. The Community Band is a group for all ages, with an emphasis on fun and socialising; this is also helping to combat social isolation in our local area. The Senior Band is our competition band and will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025.

Taylor and Fraser were delighted to sponsor their annual Christmas Concert last week. We appreciate the part Irvine and Dreghorn Brass play in the community and the excellent work they do in encouraging young people and providing them with the opportunity to make music. Invariably, organisations like them are under-resourced and need help to continue to provide free tuition, equipment and resources to enable people to thrive, so Taylor and Fraser is delighted to play a small part in helping them flourish.

The concert raised an incredible £3098, which will go towards the running costs of this fantastic organisation so that they can continue their excellent work in their local community.
