Solar thermal, similar to solar PV, is a clean technology that collects heat from the sun, concentrating this in evacuated tubes or flat panels in order to transfer this energy into heating your hot water.

With the announcement of the UK’s 10 Point plan to Net Zero it is estimate that the UK will have to install 600,000 heat pumps each year until 2028. Taylor and Fraser are committed to building to the future providing this essential service.

Heat pumps are a fantastic option for decarbonising the heat sector previously dominated by fossil fuels, as they provide up to 300-500% more heat energy than electric heating per kilowatt.

The process is easily broken into 4 stages:

• Low grade heat is captured from the sun either in the outside air or the top layers of the ground
• The Heat pump collects a large proportion of this trapped heat via refrigerants, that can begin to boil at temperatures as low as -40oC.
• Once this heat is collected it is compressed and concentrated within the heat pump unit
• This concentrated heat to then transferred to where you need it, either for heating domestic hot water to space heating, providing 3-5 times the energy it takes to run the heat pump.

Harnessing the energy of the wind, collecting this energy in the form of turning turbine blades and rotating a generator is a simple yet effective method of onsite generation.

If you don’t have room for a 150m high commercial wind turbine the likes of those located at Waterlee Wind farm but want to contribute to the low carbon movement we can discuss micro or small scale wind turbine installations.

The swap from old energy intensive fluorescent light bulbs to more energy efficient LEDs is a simple method of reducing electricity bills and carbon emissions. As standard all projects undertaken by Taylor and Fraser include the install of LED as we build towards the future.
