Taylor and Fraser are involved in ongoing work at the historic Castle of Mey in Caithness, Thurso. As a company, we like to get involved in events and activity going on in the local communities we work in and as such, we are delighted to be sponsoring this year’s Castle of Mey 10k.
We will be donating a perpetual trophy for both the Men’s and Women’s races, as well as providing reusable joggers water bottles for the race goody bags. We even have a member of our own team running the race, with Angus MacInnes (Construction Director) taking on the 10k at the Castle for the first time!
The annual Castle of Mey 10k will take place this year on Sunday 26th May. It is the most northerly 10k on British mainland and is run throughout the stunning grounds and surroundings of the iconic 16th Century Castle of Mey. The North Highland Harriers running group are the organisers of this event and invite everyone to get involved. Last year, the fastest time was an impressive 35 minutes and 15 seconds, won by Kevin Cormack of the North Highland Harriers.
We are no strangers to the beautiful grounds of the Castle of Mey, with our team currently undertaking work on phase two of the £3.2 million granary restoration and redevelopment project. We have worked closely with the Castle of Mey Trust over the past year and we are proud to be a part of maintaining and restoring an iconic Scottish castle, previously property of The Queen Mother.
We wish Angus and all the other runners good luck in their training for the 10k, and hope for sunny weather on the race day!
