We were proud to receive a ‘Positive Contribution’ certificate in the mail recently from Shared Apprentice Limited (SAL), a not-for-profit organisation set up by Angus Council, Dundee & Angus College, CITB and a variety of local construction companies.
So, in 2015, with support from SBATC, SECTT, the Scottish Government and Skills Development Scotland, Angus Shared Apprentice Programme Ltd was launched. In 2017, Dundee City Council joined the programme, providing full Dundee and Angus coverage. To reflect these changes, the company changed its name to Shared Apprentice Limited.
So, where do Taylor and Fraser come in?
We supported the scheme by sharing apprenticeship training with SAL; we covered the onsite element of training putting apprentices to work across projects like NICU and CTS in Ninewells Hospital and various other projects in and around Dundee.
At Taylor and Fraser, we wholeheartedly believe apprenticeships and properly run apprenticeship schemes are critical to the construction industry; they play a vital role in providing a consistent talent pipeline.
Commenting on the SAL recognition, Taylor and Fraser’s Electrical Services Director said: “We were happy to support Shared Apprenticeships Limited in what was an excellent initiative to address the skills gap in the construction industry and help develop the skills and abilities of our young people.”
