Number 80 is regarded by some as one of the most stunning buildings located in George Street in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town. As part of an £8,000,000 redevelopment over 6 floors, Taylor and Fraser undertook the new Mechanical and Electrical installation in the historically sensitive and busy city centre location, which brought about challenges willingly conquered by our expert staff.

Scope of Work

The Mechanical Services installation comprised:

  • Gas fired LTHW boiler plant serving underfloor heating, radiators, fan coil units and air handling units
  • Air handling units providing supply and extract ventilation to offices and toilets with run round heat recovery coils
  • Chilled water to fan coil and air handling units
  • Boosted cold water and local electric water heaters
  • Dry riser system
  • Electrical switchgear
  • Rising bus bar to serve distribution systems
  • Intruder and fire alarms
  • Small power system
  • Lighting and lighting control
  • Full BMS to provide integrated control of the mechanical services
