NHS Fife – Boiler Decentralisation
Project Overview
Taylor and Fraser undertook, as Principal Contractor, the decentralization of the boiler plant simultaneously at Stratheden and Lynebank Hospitals in Fife. The project was carried out to ensure no disruption to the client and patients. Work took place in multiple boiler rooms and plantrooms with new LTHW gas fired boilers being installed to feed either individual or groups of buildings. The new boilers replaced central steam boilers which had become inefficient over the years, and which were too large for the sites, following demolition of various buildings. Given the significant services element of the works the project was led by the Mechanical Division utilising the complimentary expertise of the in-house Construction Division. Project completion was successfully achieved in May 2014.
Scope of Work
The project comprised of the following trades:

- Boiler installation
- Water heater installation
